My Window
by Erin Gallimore
Looking out my window,
The glass is cracked in places
From bullets that have missed their mark.
The fighting leaves its traces.
Watching through my window,
It is scorched in places too,
Buildings falling down around me.
I don’t know what to do.
Staring out my window,
The Black and Tans pass by my door,
When will this war be over?
I don’t want to fight anymore.
Observing out my window,
Overlooking the debris,
My road’s unrecognisable.
Is this worth it to be free?
