Presenting the Poetry as Commemoration archive to UCD Library

Since January 2022, we have collected over 600 poems inspired by the War of Independence, the Civil War, and related events that shaped the course of modern Ireland. The creative responses of citizens of all ages across the island are reflected in this archive and will be preserved in UCD Special Collections for future generations. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to the participative archive so far.

Do you have a commemorative poem to add to the archive?

The final deadline for submissions to the Poetry as Commemoration archive is 28 February, 2024. After this date, submissions will not be added to the Virtual Poetry Wall. Submissions posted to UCD Special Collections after this date will be added to the physical archive.  All contributors are strongly encouraged to post handwritten copies of their poems to UCD Special Collections, James Joyce Library, Belfield, Dublin 4.

The Poetry as Commemoration project concludes on 31 March 2024.
